Yesterday I finished the EA Sports 30 day active challenge, on time, at the hard intensity level! YEAH FOR ME! The last four workouts were really hard, especially #18! My knees are a bit sore right now, from all the lunges and jumping, I think. I feel a great sense of accomplishment.
I was impressed that even in the last two workouts, new exercises were introduced. One exercise was introduced on workout #19 and only used once (I would have preferred to have that one all along). For me, the equipment (band and leg strap) has held up well through the challenge. I know that others have reported snapping bands and other issues. I think having the wireless nunchuk helped - because I kept the wired one in the leg strap all the time, there was less wear on the pocket stitching (from removing and inserting the nunchuk).
With that said, I'm not sure I will do the 30 day challenge again. The challenge has you do 20 workouts over a span of 30 days. Each workout is about 30 minutes in length. Sometimes I would follow my daily workout with another one (either pre-made or custom) or some Wii Fit Yoga, just to lengthen the workout to something more respectable (45 minutes to an hour). Most of the off days, I did a cardio workout at the gym. I prefer an exercise regimen that favors more cardio, and more variety. So I anticipate that I will use EA Sports maybe a couple times a week for a full body strength training workout, then go the gym, walk, or bike most the other days.
In general, I think the EA Sports Active is a great option for those who need some nudging and motivation to start working out. Cheaper than a gym membership and easily accessible in the home for those times when you have a short window to workout, or those days when the weather is lousy and you don't want to go outside. (Living in Florida as I do, that isn't often the case for me :-) )
I look forward to the release of the expansion pack, which is supposed to feature more core exercises and stretching.
